Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program |

The GATEWAY to Natural Resource Management |

The Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program was created based on the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) with additional financial enhancements. Installing conservation practices through CREP will allow landowners to receive annual payments while helping to stop soil erosion and protecting water quality.
One of three Michigan CREP )Priority areas is the Macatawa Watershed. It encompasses all or part of nine townships in Southwest Ottawa County and Northwest Allegan County. Most land within the watershed with a cropping history will be eligible.
CREP practices include Filter Strips, Riparian Forest Buffers, Wetland Restorations, Field Windbreaks, Sediment Retention Control Structure, and Native or Introduced Grass Plantings. |
Setting aside land for CREP practices is a smart choice both economically and environmentally. With CREP you can: · Stop soil loss by reducing erosion · Improve water quality by filtering runoff to prevent sediment and other pollutants from entering our water sources · Receive annual payments and more!
The 2005 CREP signup period is now open! For more information about CREP, please contact: Amy Lockhart, CREP Technician Allegan Conservation District 1668 Lincoln Rd. (M-40 North) Allegan, MI 49010 (269) 673-8965, ext. 3 / fax: (269) 673-9671 |
