Great Lakes Commission Project
This project started in 2019 under the guidance of MACC and its technical assistants. In 2019 and 2020, they committed to planting 1,190 acres of cover crops on farmlands. Moving forward, they have asked Allegan Conservation District to assist in recruiting farmers to plant another 300 acres of cover crops, and 3,900 feet of grassed waterways. Farmers, landowners, and decision makers are encouraged to participate in this program if your land resides within the following watersheds:
- Peters Creek (Allegan)
- Upper Macatawa (Ottawa)
- Noordeloos Creek (Ottawa)
- South Branch (Allegan)
