Our District Conservation Technician-Jason Cass attended the National No-Tillage Conference in Indianapolis the second week of January. The three days were packed with informative sessions from early morning into the evening. Classes covered a diversity of topics focused on how farmers can implement conservation practices such as no-till and cover crops on their farms, and what they stand to gain. A few of the session titles include Profitable Cover Crop Strategies, What Is No-till Soil Really Worth, Diversifying Your No-till Operations and Revenue Streams, and Keeping Rain Where It Falls with No-Till, as well as farmer panels, vendors, and round-table discussions. The conference was an important learning opportunity that improved the capacity of the District to provide technical assistance. Hopefully next year we can get some of our local farmers to attend as well.Â
